Code.org offers a myriad of lessons that introduce students to the science behind coding using disguised learning and contemporary gameplay. In this activity, participants practice programming 'blocks' of code to program their version of Flappy Bird. The lesson follows a scaffolded framework, building upon previously learned material as students code complexities into the game. One of the more valuable elements is the feature to run the code (and play the game), allowing students to trials their coding sequencing in real-time. In addition, the site offers instruction in over 60 languages, which supports English Language Learners as they practice the science of coding.
