Simple and easy way to show how objects in motion really want to move in a straight line when not influenced by an outside force. In this case the outside force is the curved rim of the paper plate. Have students try and place a second plate for the marble to roll into and change course again. Materials are inexpensive and easy to find. This would be a good introductory activity that leads to building more complex rollercoaster type activities.
