Shelter is one of the basic necessities to surviving for all animals. This video and activity will get students thinking about the basics of building a structure. The challenge to build a tall tower then a strong structure using only index cards and paperclips will fully engage kids. Try using the same materials to build a bringe to cross a six to 12 inch gap. I also loved the extension videos showing a single man building a log cabin, a young boy learning to build an igloo made of compacted snow and how thousands of playing cards can be used to make really tall structures. Get those young minds working on what can be the next best alternative building material for their future home.
