Smelly bats are a cute activity and sounds like a fun game to play or just to bring some cheer and pleasant smells to a small area. The materials for this activity are easy to obtain and use; round balloons with drawn on silly faces work just as well. An explanation of the science is provided and there is also an act out demonstration of how the oil molecules are released from the balloon, which would really help illustrate how this activity works. This lesson can also be tied in with a lesson on the senses, nose, and smells.
