This is a simple, yet effective science activity. I did not have all of the materials on hand, so I improvised, and it still worked. Instead of a pie tin with ice, I used a plastic freezer block (the kind that you put in a lunchbox), and I made sure that the top of my glass container was small enough so that it was covered completely with the ice block. And since I did not have a match, I used a gas lighter to set a toothpick on fire. The results I got were still good. My only suggestion is that you heat the water in a separate container than the one you are going to put the match in. (I put mine in the microwave, and it created condensation on the sides. It was then hard to see the reaction clearly) Overall, this was really fun, and I enjoyed seeing the reaction happening before my eyes.
