Insulation Station!
This was by far my students favorite activity on Discovery Cube Connect. It is a simple experiment with easily available items that most households have. I loved using this lesson to supplement our Pet Power lessons. Discussing how human beings have behavior and clothes that help insulate themselves led to a lot of observations about how animals do the same thing. My students loved sharing how animals had different features that helped them to survive and specialize in living in certain climates.
This experiment is the perfect introduction to the scientific method for younger learners who like hands-on activities. To scale this experiment up, add a second bowl of room temperature water and explain the importance of having a control . Freshen your breath like a scientist with Experi-mints!
