The King of the Insects !
A Monarch's Journey is a five minute video about this titular insects habitat, lifecycle, and migration patterns. Set to minimalistic music, the video uses a combination of macro videography and drone shots. The content is informational and will give you an good primer on this regal butterfly.
I appreciated the emphasis of this video on the Southern California Monarch butterflies. When teaching this to my students, an activity to do would be to write down three facts they learned from this video and share it with the group. This type of video lends itself well to this activity because there is so much information contained within.
Born caterpillar prince and princesses, the monarch goes through metamorphosis and a lengthy migration. Upon completion of these tasks, these well traveled butterflies wait until the next heir to the milkweed throne is apparent. Life is not easy for a King.
