We Care About Your Privacy

The following information explains our policy regarding any personal information you may supply to us when visiting our site. Discovery Science Foundation’s goal in collecting personal information online is to provide you with a personalized web experience.

By knowing your preferences we can deliver relevant information that meets your needs, and ensures that your visit to our site is quick, easy, and productive.

Discovery Science Foundation collects personally identifying information only (1) when you register for personalized information at our site, (2) to place an order in our shopping cart, and (3) to enter into one of our promotions. Discovery Science Foundation will not sell, rent or share this information with any other organization except where otherwise indicated below.

what information do we collect?

Discovery Science Foundation does not collect any unique information about you (such as your name, email address, etc.) except when you specifically and knowingly provide such information as part of the Discovery Cube Connect’s registration process, a ticket purchase, or when submitting a request for more information. Discovery Science Foundation may save information such as time of day, browser type, browser language, and IP address with each query. That information is used to verify our records and to provide more relevant services to our users.

cookies

Cookies are pieces of information that a Web site transfers to an individual’s hard drive for record-keeping purposes. The information stored will make your usage of our site easier and faster because it allows you to use the site without having to re-enter information on each visit. The cookies also keep track of items in your shopping cart, so you can search our site for more information without losing the tickets your cart. We also use cookies when you request personalized information on our site. These cookies are used to identify visitors when they return to the site. They also maintain the visitor’s identity while at our site so they need only log in once. Without cookies, the shopping cart (which maintains your items from page to page) will not function.

do we disclose your information to outside parties?

Discovery Science Foundation does not use cookies to retrieve personally identifiable information from your computer. Sensitive financial data collected in a purchase is isolated and encrypted to further protect your privacy, as detailed in the section on SSL below. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include organizations where you already have an account through a single-sign on service (like a logged in account to Facebook or Twitter for sharing or liking content), trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

third party links

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include links to third party websites. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites.

online advertising and remarketing tags we use

We use third party analytics, advertising and remarketing services including Bizo, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter and AdRoll to advertise our various websites. These third party services will display relevant ads tailored to you based on your activity within our website – what parts of our foundation and science center locations you have viewed – by placing a cookie on your machine and using that to reach visitors at a later time with a targeted advertisement back to our website, a less intrusive way of sharing our latest exhibits with past visitors. These third party advertising cookies do not in anyway identify you or give access to your computer. Any data collected will be used in accordance with our own privacy policy, as well as those of our third party service providers: Bizo, Facebook, LinkedIn, AdRoll, Google and Twitter.

While Discovery Cube science center locations are designed for children to learn and play in a safe, educational environment under the supervision of their parents, our website is not designed for unsupervised children or those under the age of 13. We use our website to promote our various education programs and centers strictly to teachers and parents. We do not knowingly attempt to track, target or sell to users under the age of 13.

how to opt-out of remarketing and advertising

If you do not wish to participate in our third party remarketing, you can opt out of such advertising cookies by enabling “Do Not Track” in your web browser’s settings or by opting out directly :

information for parents & guardians

As a parent or guardian you can request Discovery Cube to remove personal information of your child that was submitted without your consent or by misrepresenting his or her age. At your request, we will take reasonable steps to remove such information from our database. All such requests should include the same user name, password, and e-mail address that your child submitted and should be sent to via the Contact Form

CAN-SPAM compliance

We have taken the necessary steps to ensure that we are compliant with the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 by never sending out misleading information.

online privacy policy only

This online privacy policy applies only to information collected through our website and not to information collected offline.

security

We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. You can confirm this by noting the small yellow lock which appears on the bottom of your browser window during the checkout process.

We reveal only five digits of your credit card numbers when confirming an order. Of course, we transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing.

Credit card information is stored in our database using triple-DES encryption algorithms, to guarantee that, even if someone were able to gain access to the data, nothing useful could be extracted.

By using this site, you signify your agreement with Discovery Science Foundation’s Privacy Policy.
