This video is full of cute animals that are sure to captivate the attention of your young learner. To increase attention and retention, I encourage you to turn on the closed captioning offered on the video. It is a great way for students to be able to read and visualize the content at that same time. The focus of the video is what these animals do as parents, so I would encourage the child to pause the video and write down what each animal does to care for their babies. Have them think about why some animals invest more time in their babies than others do by using some of the reasons mentioned in the video (i.e. pregnancy length and usual number of babies in one pregnancy). The video description has some more questions that you can ask your child. You can also introduce animal classification before the lesson and have your child sort the animals into the five most well known classes of vertebrates: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians.
