This resource provides a very engaging and safe way to make air cannons. I love how the video shows examples of different types and models made by other kids, plus it’s great that they encourage using the safer and softer cotton pom-pom balls as projectiles. The instructions give steps to making a simple cannon, but this project can be designed in any way a child would like, using easy-to-find accessible materials at home. There are different challenges and extensions given at the end of the activity to help take it beyond the exploration. There are a few good explanations given to cover the scientific background of the activity. Optionally, cotton balls may be used instead of pom-poms.
