PBS offers this fun activity where students learn about air pressure as they build their own air cannon. This resource provides an instructional video and step by step written directions with accompanying photos. Several of the materials can be found at home with the exception of the pom poms (rolled chenille stems were used for this review and worked fine), and parent/guardian support is needed as scissors are required. In addition, this resource supports English Language Learners as the instructions are available in English and Spanish. While the activity is hands-on, the connection to STEM could be strengthened to better meet learning objectives.
