Coding is the way of the future and Code.org is a free reliable site that caters to teaching beginning coders of all ages. The introduction video gives provides an in-depth look at what you will doing in the activity and how user friendly it is. It uses color coded blocks to help you code the game, and reveals how there is text-based code behind them. The activity is broken down into many different steps so the students feels like they are making a lot of progress even after only completing small task. The steps give directions on what to do, but there is also extra blocks available that the student can interact with and run. After each step, there is an opportunity to give feedback to the site, which creates a good atmosphere, even if it is virtually. Once everything is completed, you can share your game with others and keep modifying it to make it more difficult. You are even able to print/share a certificate of completion that many children will love to display.
